Default Strat Calling Tips

Our main warrior in GvG started school so soon I'm going to have to start strat calling. Anybody have any tips for me?

Try some stuff. If that stuff isn't working, try other stuff until you find something that does.

It seems like a dumb answer, but honestly it works. There isn't really a strategy that works 100% of the time, so just see what your team is doing, figure out a way to get kills, and if it isn't working try something else. If you find you aren't getting anything done, just say, k go put damage on their lord.

Perfectly said.

Adaptivity wins. If they fail to keep up they lose, if you don't react you lose.

What you do depends not only on your build, their build, but also the players on both sides. It's a huge learning experience, you will make wrong calls several times more than likely but you will learn from them and only get better with time and experience. It's more of a concept than a lesson, hard to teach but when you wrap your head around it it's well understood.

look for a weakness in the other teams build and use it,also look at how well they can split,if it dont look like they can very well then make them. Good luck

Watch obs... like when ever you have a free chunk of time. I know it sounds boring but it really helps out a lot. Also, never go quiet. If you run out of ideas in the middle of a match, ask your teammates for suggestions.

What do you mean by "wrong calls"? targets with prots on them? also, if you see
someone is overextended ( like a midline going too close to the frontline) you will have a
better chance to spike it down, since your team won't have to go through the frontline
so spike . ( Saying this from what I've seen in my last few GvGs)

EDIT:My bad I misunderstood what you meant, strategy calling? try out things, don't be afraid to tell your team "do this and then do that", your the boss. Even if you will make mistakes, they won't allways be fatal, you will still have time to make a comeback, if you'll understand what was your mistake, and how to go around it. gl

I know its pretty general, but a good way to get a solid understanding of the match is take a good analysis of their team and what they are capable of and think to yourself "what is the one thing I can do to make their team be like 'oh shit I hope they dont do this'" and just do it. If they have a guy with no self preservation and stances, go wail on him until he gets a prot and switch off and do something else. Every time you see him unprotted keep switching back and wailing on him because that is a weakness in their build. If you know they really need their flagger just go back and run a flag. Keep them doing things they dont want to do and reacting to your plays. This may seem impossible when teams do things that you arent comfortable with but you need to keep them reacting to you. 3 people in your base? screw it send 5 people back to deal with it, keep a monk runner and defense at the stand. Think you can crack their stand team? Send a monk back to stall their gank and force THEM to make decisions. It may seem that as a strat caller whoever makes the best decisions wins the match, but in reality its usually the one who has to make the LEAST decisions.

My tip as a caller:
Keep everyone talking.

Even between matches, maintain dialouge with your team members. Keep it benign between matches (small talk) or go over potential solutions to problems that have arisen. Include everyone.

This strategy will get your team comfortable with you and eachother, something which will absolutley pay off in the long run.

Never discourage talking, just keep the chat task oriented where appropriate.
